Trust staff, patients, and members of the community came together to sing carols and switch on the Christmas tree lights in Springfield Park – hosted by ToastStores café.
We were thrilled to be joined by the Fircroft Primary School Choir, who sung ‘This Christmas’ first followed by ‘You’ve got a Friend’. The children took part in decorating their own mini-Christmas tree before the lights were switched on and the carols began.
Now in its third year, the event is one of several initiatives brought forward by Springfield Village, with our flagship Summer Street Parties and innovative Mental Health Champions Training also made available to the community and beyond. The event also raised money for our Trust Charity’s ‘Winter appeal’, which is proving a ‘party-in-a-box' for every ward this festive season.
Each ‘party-in-a-box' is filled with things to help staff and patients celebrate in style – including decorations, festive tableware, some sweet treats, games and toiletries. There are party playlists for you to enjoy in the envelope with the red ribbon, too!
Ian Garlington, Better Communities Director, said: “Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our event again this year! The tree was even bigger and better than last year and to see our colleagues, patients and community celebrate and sing together is fantastic.
“To everyone who has donated to our winter appeal – thank you. The ‘Party in a box’ will bring some joy this year not only to our patients but our hardworking colleagues, too."
