Suicide Prevention Conference

The annual South West London Suicide Prevention Conference is hosted by our Trust in partnership with the South West London Integrated Care Board’s suicide prevention programme. It is also part of our commitment to delivering our Suicide Prevention Strategy.

Each year, the conference brings together people with lived experience, carers, staff and partners to share learning and good practice, and have open conversations about suicide and suicide prevention.

Anyone who lives or works in south west London and has an interest in, or lived experience of, suicide and suicide prevention is encouraged to attend.

Suicide Prevention Conference 2025

At the heart of the 2025 conference was Hold the Hope, a suicide prevention collaboration between our Trust and people with lived experience.

Hold the Hope brings together volunteers with personal experience of suicide who have created a film and training programme to encourage open and honest conversations about suicide and share learning from their experiences.

The conference also provided an opportunity to hear about people’s experiences, learn about the latest evidence and service developments, and meet others working to prevent suicide across south west London.

What attendees said

Dr Sean Whyte, Consultant Psychiatrist and Deputy Medical Director, said: The annual Conference is vital to celebrating our successes but more importantly, bringing together people who can make meaningful change in areas we still need to tackle. As ever, I am truly grateful to those who shared their story. Next year, we will look to incorporate some more practical learning and bitesize training so that attendees leave with more skills to support their communities.

One attendee said: Excellent selection of topics and speakers - I really felt that the content was amazing and very relevant. I loved the mixture of interactive and presentation. The groups were so well facilitated by the team.
