WLDHT shortlisted for National Psychiatry Awards

the text reads 'The Royal College of Psychiatrists

This Learning Disability Week, we’re delighted to celebrate the Wandsworth Learning Disabilities Healthcare Team (WLDHT), who have been shortlisted for Psychiatric Team of the Year at the  Royal College of Psychiatrists London Division Awards.

This shortlist highlights the vital role specialist teams play in supporting people with learning disabilities to live healthier, more independent lives.

WLDHT has been recognised for its caring and innovative approach to supporting people with learning disabilities. The team has led important projects to reduce overmedication, improve dementia care, and tackle health inequalities. They work closely together across different professions to deliver joint training and to get patients involved in planning their own care.

The nomination highlights the team’s strong leadership, commitment to improving services, and use of a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach. Feedback from patients and carers is very positive, with 96% rating the service as good.

Congratulations to the WLDHT on this well-deserved nomination!
