Trust celebrates 30th birthday Christmas lights ‘switch on’
Trust staff, patients, and members of the community came together to sing carols and switch on the Christmas tree lights in Springfield’s Chapel Square on Thursday as part of the Trust’s 30th birthday celebrations.
Choirs from Fircroft Primary School and Holy Trinity, Mary Magdalene and St Augustine Churches lead us through the specially selected range of carols and hymns – as well as a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday.
Now in it’s second year, the event is one of a number of initiatives brought forward by Springfield Village, with our flagship Summer Street Parties and innovative Mental Health Champions Training also made available to the community and beyond. The event also raised money for the Hospital Charity’s ‘We Care Gift Bag’ appeal, in which each of our hospital inpatients will receive a special present this Christmas. A donation of just £5 will fund an entire gift bag for a patient.
Ian Garlington, Better Communities Director, said:
“Thank you to everyone who came out despite the rain and supported our event again this year! The tree was even bigger and better than last year and to see our colleagues, patients and community celebrate and sing together is fantastic. “To everyone who has donated to our winter appeal – thank you. The ‘We Care Gift Bags’ will bring some joy and comfort to our inpatients this festive season. If you haven’t yet donated and are able to, you can here. Thank you.”
As we celebrate our incredible birthday milestone, we’re taking a moment to recognise the work of some of the people who know us best, our amazing long-serving staff!
Their commitment and hard work have been instrumental in shaping care across South West London over the past three decades.
