Mental Health Charity set to launch its first Winter Appeal in South West London

The text reads 'help make Christmas special for our inpatients this year' followed by an image of three people wearing santa hats.

In partnership with mental health charity MoMark, the South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Charitable Fund is thrilled to launch its first Winter Appeal - The ‘We Care Christmas Gift’ campaign, which will run from 1st November to 25th December.

Christmas can be a trying time for patients who need to be in hospital over the festive season, particularly for those who are struggling with mental illness. To help make Christmas special this year the Charity is appealing to those who are able to donate, to ensure that every patient gets to open a ‘We Care Christmas Gift’ on Christmas day.

Every festive gift bag will contain essential items and treats which will be accompanied by a beautiful bespoke Christmas card. The total cost of each gift is £10 - £5 of which has been generously contributed by MoMark, which means that every donation of £5 will fund an entire present for a patient this Christmas.

Juliet Armstrong, Chair of The South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Charitable Fund, comments:

“Our mission is Making Life Better Together - the golden thread that runs through our work to transform local mental health services and if you are considering making a donation this year, you may not realise what a powerful consideration that is. We have over 380 patients across our wards at any given time and we are asking for the kind support of the public to help us bring them some much-needed joy this Christmas.”

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust serves 1.2 million people across the boroughs of Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton, and Wandsworth. It supports one of the most diverse populations in London and this is reflected in its workforce of nearly 2,800 staff.

Across its 120 clinical teams the Trust provides care to 70,000 people in South West London  at any given time. The Trust is committed to addressing entrenched health inequalities and becoming actively anti-racist. It aspires to work hand in hand with communities, patients and their carers through co-production and engagement.
