On behalf of the SWLStG LGBTQIA+ Staff Network
This statement expresses our support for transgender, non-binary and intersex people. As an organisation and staff network, we are committed to a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment and bullying in any form, including on the basis of gender identity.
We acknowledge how challenging it can be for transgender people currently in the UK. As with many marginalised groups, transgender, non-binary and intersex people can experience disproportionate levels of discrimination, exclusion, and harm. These experiences can affect people's wellbeing, their experiences in the workplace, and their ability to access services safely and confidently.
We are working towards inclusive practice that supports everyone, including trans, non-binary and intersex patients, colleagues and communities in mental health care, management and leadership, local policy development, and peer networks. The LGBTQIA+ Staff Network continues to play a central part in leading and advising on these initiatives.
We are committed to being an inclusive Trust that provides compassionate, high-quality care to all patients and creates a safe, welcoming and respectful environment for all staff.
To help improve understanding and support for our trans patients, colleagues and community members, we encourage staff to access information, guidance and resources from specialist organisations.
