Planned changes to our Mental Health Crisis Line in 2026

Our Trust’s 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line (0800 028 8000) is a key route to urgent support for patients, partners, and our wider community.

This service is designed to support anyone experiencing a mental health crisis, those concerned about a friend or loved one, as well as fellow Blue Light services and healthcare professionals supporting those in crisis.

In the coming 12 months, our Crisis Line will transition to be part of the NHS 111 ‘Press 2 for mental health’ service.

Simplifying where to get help in a crisis

This change is part of a national NHS programme designed to:

  • Make it easier for people to find help in a mental health crisis
  • Offer a single, simple number for urgent care
  • Ensure equal access to mental and physical health support via NHS 111

What happens next?

The exact timing for the transition will be announced in the coming months. During this time our Mental Health Crisis Line will remain accessible as normal via our 0800 number.

Once announced, and in advance of the transition, we will be working closely with patients, carers and partners across South West London to provide further information so everyone knows how to access urgent support via NHS 111 ‘Press 2’ for mental health.

Please look out for further information and if you have any questions at this point, email us at communications@swlstg.nhs.uk
