Wandsworth Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) have launched two new videos designed to help young people, parents, carers, and families better understand mental health services and what support is available. They have been created to make information clearer, more accessible and easier to understand.

What is CAMHS?

The What is CAMHS? Video introduces Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and explains the role CAMHS plays in supporting children and young people with their emotional, behavioural and mental health needs.

The animation covers:

  • What CAMHS is and who the service is for
  • The different types of support available
  • How referrals work
  • What young people and families can expect from the service

The video also highlights our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive space for everyone.

What is Family Therapy?

The second video, What is Family Therapy?, focuses on helping families understand what family therapy is and how it can help. It explains:

  • The role of the family therapist
  • What family therapy can support with
  • What to expect from family therapy sessions

The aim is to help families feel more informed and prepared before starting therapy.

About the project

The two videos were created by Wandsworth CAMHS, with advice and feedback from young people involved in the Patient and Public Involvement group.
