From Saturday 3 May 2025, extended bus routes will support improved transport options for Springfield Hospital.
Following Springfield's £150m transformation, Transport for London (TfL) have been working to finalise new routes in order to improve access for staff and patients, as well as residents of the new Springfield Village.
Hundreds of new homes are due to open in the years ahead as the site is transformed into a vibrant new community with shops, cafes, a public square and a new 32-acre park, co-located with Springfield Hospital.
G1 extension
The G1 bus currently drops off on Burntwood Lane to the western side of the site. This will now be rerouted and extended to drop of further into Springfield.
Buses will run in both directions from Burntwood Lane via Springfield Drive, Lapidge Drive and Bicknell Way, back to Springfield Drive serving bus stop Y in both directions, before heading back to Burntwood Lane.
There will also be a change to the frequency, with G1 buses running every 20 minutes during the daytime and every 30 minutes during the evening on all days of the week.
315 extension
From next month, the 315 bus route will also now run between West Norwood and Springfield Hospital. It will take passengers along Balham High Road, past Tooting Bec Station, Trinity Road, Glenburnie Road, and will terminate on Springfield Drive next to Trinity Building as shown below.
From Saturday the new bus stops on Springfield Drive will become active. Buses will run every 20 minutes from Monday to Saturday during the day, every 30 minutes on Sundays and every evening, travelling in both directions.
You can find further information on the TfL website including details of the consultation conducted as part of setting up the new route.
All together this will support improved access to the site for thousands of people who travel to and from Springfield every year.
