Meet Yetunde from our Crisis Line Team
Our Crisis Line provides round-the-clock support to individuals facing urgent mental health challenges. Available to both adults and children, the service ensures that help is always just a call away, 24/7, every day of the year.
We recently spoke with Yetunde, Team Manager of the Crisis Line, to learn more about her role and the incredible work her team does to support those in crisis.
Q. Could you tell us a bit about your role on the Crisis Line team and what a typical day looks like?
"I manage the Crisis Line team, and my day usually begins with a busy morning of meetings and catching up on emails."
Q. What motivates you in your role on the Crisis Line?
"The work we do truly impacts people's lives, and that’s something I deeply value."
Q. How does the Crisis Line team work together to support callers, especially during peak times?
"As a team, we are very resilient. It’s all hands on deck to ensure calls are handled appropriately and on time. We use the UK Triage Scale to assess and prioritise callers and provide assessments for individuals in crisis."
Q. What are some of the main types of support you provide?
- A 24/7 call service available 365 days a year for people in crisis.
- Referrals to other services for further assessment and support, such as SPA, Talking Therapy, and IRH.
- Full psychosocial assessments.
- Referral to the Lotus Suite for crisis containment – a crisis service that provides detailed assessments for people who may need inpatient care.
- Signposting to other organisations for support, like James Place, Recovery Cafe, and MIND.
- We take referrals from NHS 111 (option 2), GPs, self-referrals, and other professionals and services.
Q. What’s the most rewarding part of your work on the Crisis Line?
"Having the opportunity to provide support when it’s most needed, helping to prevent further relapse."
Q. What advice would you give to someone considering reaching out to the Crisis Line for support?
"We are here for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can call us anytime at 0800 028 8000. Our staff are trained, highly experienced professionals, and we are here to listen."
