We’re underway! Following last week’s ‘groundbreaking’ ceremony, the £110m redevelopment of Tolworth Hospital in Kingston has begun.
After years of planning, our Better Environments Programme and our partners will be working to deliver a new five-ward facility at the centre of the site for delivery in 2027.
As part of the build, Tolworth will also be opened up, with new and improved landscaping, access routes, a central plaza and a café, helping to break mental health stigma and integrate our site into the community.
What’s in a name?
One important task remains – naming our new building!
We are inviting our whole community to suggest possible names as part of a new competition launching this week.
Entries could reflect the nature theme used for a number of our other facilities at Tolworth (e.g. Acacia Unit, Lilac Ward and Jasmine Ward) or could be a nod to the history and heritage of the local area in the way ‘Trinity’ was chosen for the new Trinity Building at Springfield Hospital in Tooting.
The name will give the building a distinct identity, helping establish it as a modern facility equipped to support local people for many years to come. The winning entry will be announced later this year.
Good luck!
