Denton Choutan has been named as the next recipient of the Trust’s Exceptional People Award, having been selected as the November 2025 winner.

Denton works as a Healthcare Assistant in Bluebell Ward and joined the Trust 12 years ago.  His colleagues on Bluebell were full of praise for him, saying: “Denton demonstrates the Trust values through his hard work, compassion, and commitment to providing the highest standards of care.

“His willingness to go the extra mile, by offering additional help to colleagues and ensuring that patients receive the best care possible, makes him an outstanding role model.”

Denton was pleasantly surprised when he found out that he had won the award and spoke about his highlights of working at the Trust:

“I have enjoyed the opportunity to support members of the Deaf Community access mental health care, gain confidence, and recover in the community. The service we provide is crucial as treatment and recovery can be delivered using British Sign Language by a team of experts who understand the Deaf Community and their needs.

“Although this award celebrates exceptional people, I feel that what I do is simply fulfilling my responsibilities and maintaining the standard I aim to deliver every day.

Denton will receive a certificate, a gift, and our thanks for his valued service to the Trust and patients.

Every month we recognise and reward a staff member that has made a real difference to the Trust, our people and our patients.  Nominations are welcome from all teams.
