Patients and staff at Ellis Ward, Tolworth Hospital, recently celebrated the opening of a brand-new garden space. It provides a calm, welcoming area designed to support wellbeing and recovery.

To mark the occasion, the team held a garden party, which included table tennis, games, snacks, and time to connect      outdoors. The space has been designed to promote relaxation, social interaction, and meaningful activity which are all vital parts of the recovery journey.

Speaking of the new space, Sarah, Clinical and Operational Delivery Lead for the Better Environments Programme, said:

“Creating a space like this is about more than just having a garden, it’s about giving patients a place to breathe, reflect, and connect as part of their recovery. Access to outside green space has been such a key aspect of our estate modernisation because we know how important it is to people's wellbeing. It’s been fantastic to see how the team have brought this to life here for the ward. Thank you so much to our patients, staff, Better Environments colleagues and Sir Robert McAlpine team for helping us create this space."

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life and made the celebration such a success!
