All Kingston and Richmond CAMHS to be provided by South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust

Three members of staff talking to each other

We’re delighted to welcome Kingston and Richmond Tier 2 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLStG) from 1 November 2025.

These services will transfer to our Trust from Achieving for Children after an independent review of local support and extensive feedback from children, young people and families recommended moving to a single-provider for both Tier 2 and Tier 3 CAMHS.

What difference will this make?

This approach will help create a more seamless, coordinated and consistent experience for those young people and their families accessing support. It will also mirror arrangements already in place across Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth, ensuring all young people in south west London can access the same high-quality care.

This transition is a key priority within the NHS 10 Year Plan and reflects our ambition to deliver real improvements in mental health support for children and young people.

Talking about the change Dr Joel Khor, Clinical Director for CAMHS, said: “This transition marks a significant step forward in how we support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in Kingston and Richmond. By bringing services under one provider, we can offer more joined-up care, reduce duplication, and ensure families experience a smoother journey from referral through to treatment. We’re committed to making this change as seamless as possible for staff and local families and we will continue to listen and learn from them in the coming months.”

What Families Can Expect

We’ve written directly to all families currently on the waiting list to explain what the transfer means for them. Here’s a summary of what you need to know.

  • No need to re-refer – All open cases and referrals will automatically transfer to us on 1 November.
  • Referrals remain the same – Referrals to CAMHS will continue to be made by the Sigle Point of Access (SPA). This includes for 16- and 17-year-olds who would like to self-refer to CAMHS.
  • Neurodevelpomental assessments – Autism and ADHD assessments will be delivered by the SWLStG Neurodevelopmental Assessment Hub at Springfield University Hospital.
  • New appointment locations – Young people and families will be seen at Woodroofe House (Tolworth Hospital), Livingstone House (Teddington), Twickenham Civic Centre, or Moor Lane (Chessington). We’ll confirm your appointment location in advance.
  • Data transfer is secure – IT systems are in place to ensure a safe and effective handover of information. If you have concerns please contact KandRCamhsReview@swlstg.nhs.uk
