Staff Incident Support Care Line

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new pilot service aimed at supporting individuals who may have experienced violence and aggression during the course of their work. This service is designed to provide advice and signposting to ensure that people can access the right support in a timely manner. We know that any experience of violence and aggression can be extremely impactful both at the time and sometimes many weeks later. We have a wide range of support but it is difficult sometimes to navigate what help you need and who to speak to especially when it is several months after the event.

What is this service and who is this available to?

This new service will be available for anyone who needs advice or information on the support available following violence and aggression at work. We recognise that much of this will be available through local line managers however this service is additional to that support. Whether you're looking for immediate guidance or seeking information on where to turn for further help, our team will provide support and connect you to the most appropriate support resources. Our service will be available to all staff (including bank), contractors, volunteers and students.

Trial Period

This service will be available until the end of May 2025. It will be available as an 8-week trial, during which we will evaluate its effectiveness and gather insights into the types of advice and support that are most beneficial. Our goal is to understand the needs of our colleagues, identify gaps, and refine the service to ensure it delivers the most value.

How will we use the feedback?

Throughout the trial, we will closely monitor the types of advice requested and any common challenges that arise into themes as of course we wish to protect the confidentiality of anyone who approaches the support. This will enable us to make informed decisions about how we can improve the service moving forward. Your feedback will be essential in shaping what support is most impactful for our colleagues who experience these situations and how the Trusts response to supporting colleagues who experience violence and aggression can evolve to better meet the need.

How to Access the Service

The helpline trial will be available from Monday 3 February, and you can reach it at staffincidentcareline@swlstg.nhs.uk

We encourage anyone who needs assistance or has questions related to workplace violence and aggression to use this service, whether you are currently facing a situation or simply want to learn more about your support options after an incident.

Next Steps

We will send out reminders throughout the trial period and will be collecting feedback from those who use the service, although of course the detail will remain confidential. This will allow us to make improvements and ultimately determine what offer is most impactful for our colleagues and whether a service of this kind meets the need or whether we need something different.

Thank you for your support as we launch this important initiative. We hope it proves valuable in supporting all colleagues.
