About our care
The service is a specialist tier 4 therapeutic provision, so it is expected that young people will have been offered treatment within other children's services prior to a referral.
The main aim of the service is to support young people to work towards their 'life worth living' goals. This is often accomplished by learning skills to:
- Stop life-threatening behaviours (such as self-harm and suicidal behaviours)
- Develop emotional insight and regulation
- Improve interpersonal relationships
- Improve quality of life (school/employment attendance, trauma symptoms etc.)
- Tolerate distress and urges to engage in self-destructive behaviours and supporting parent-child interactions
Interventions include:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Trauma related CBT
- Dyadic developmental psychotherapy
- Family therapy
- Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing
- Interpersonal therapy
- Emotion regulation therapy
- Dialectical behaviour therapy skills
- Pharmaceutical intervention
- Guided self-help for anxiety or low mood
- Guided self-help for parents for anxiety or behaviour difficulties
- Workshops with parents/carers and young people
