Trust launches new kindness campaign aimed at reducing violence and aggression

We’re proud to launch a new, co-designed campaign aimed at reducing incidents of violence and aggression across our Trust. At the heart of the campaign is a clear and meaningful message: treating each other with kindness and respect.

Colleagues told us how important it is to feel valued, respected, and safe at work—and this campaign reflects those voices. It reminds us all that just as we care deeply for our patients, we too deserve to be treated with care and kindness.

“We’re here to care, kindness goes both ways.”

Abimbola Akintola, a Staff Nurse on Laurel Ward who features in the campaign, shared her thoughts

“We come to work every day to care for our patients. We know they may be feeling anxious, concerned or sometimes frustrated, but we want to be treated with the same values and kindness that we show them.”

Recent National Staff Survey results showed more colleagues have experienced physical violence from patients/service users, their relatives or other members of the public. The campaign is part of a wider focus in the Trust to reduce the impact of violence and aggression.

Introducing the Staff Incident Support Care Line

As part of this wider focus, we’ve also launched the Staff Incident Support Care Line—a pilot running until May 2025. It’s here to offer gentle, timely support to anyone who’s experienced violence or aggression in the workplace.

Whether something happened recently or months ago, we know how difficult it can be to know where to turn. This care line makes it easier, offering clear advice, reassurance, and signposting to the help that’s right for you. The service is open to everyone in our Trust family, including bank staff, volunteers, students, contractors and managers.

Abimbola also features in this pilot and shared:

“The care line is a brilliant idea. Sometimes you don’t realise you need support until much later. Having everything in one place—and being able to access it even from home—makes a real difference.”

Our message is clear: you are not alone, and support is always here when you need it.
