Trust celebrates longest-serving staff members

It can be said that working in the NHS takes a special kind of person – and at South West London and St George’s, we’re fortunate to have so many dedicated and committed members of staff.

To celebrate our colleagues who have been with the Trust for more than 25 years, we recently held special awards ceremonies honouring their achievements and dedication to the Trust. Over 50 members of staff, who ranged between 25 and 37 years of service, received trophies and were personally thanked by our Chief Executive, Vanessa Ford, for their long service. In total, our longest serving staff members have worked with us for more than 1,000 years!

Vanessa said: “It is truly the marker of a special person to dedicate such a significant amount of time to helping others and still feel joy from the difference they make. I am so proud to be part of such a caring and committed organisation, and am grateful for all we have achieved during this time for our patients, carers, and the communities we serve.”

At each event, attendees were also invited to share what being a part of the Trust means to them – a few of these reflections are shared below:

“I just love my job and I think I love everything about it. It’s the colleagues; it’s the patients; it’s everything I do.”

“There’s been a lot of change in the last 5 to 10 years, and working in a mental health trust has so much meaning. It’s a source of pride to work here.”

“For me it’s all about the patients. I’ve seen the service develop and grow to be all about the patient needs.”

“There have been many changes and challenges, but the patients have kept me going.”

Thank you again to our incredible staff!
