A brand new 24/7 mental health crisis messaging service, delivered by Everyturn Mental Health, is launching across south London for WhatsApp users.
The new service aims to strengthen access to mental health crisis support and helping more people access compassionate, confidential and free support in a format that works for their individual needs.
Now, anyone facing difficulty with their mental health can access this support by messaging 0303 330 1511 on WhatsApp.
Speaking about the new service, our Chief Operating Officer Ashton Ntuli said: “When people are experiencing a mental health crisis, it can feel overwhelming and isolating, and reaching out for help can be hard. This new WhatsApp messaging service gives people another way to access support that feels safe, simple and immediate. This service builds on our commitment to make sure no one has to face these moments alone. By working in partnership with Everyturn, we are making it easier for people to connect with compassionate, trained professionals who will listen, understand, and help them find the support they need.”
Beyond crisis support, the mental health advisors managing the messaging service are trained to signpost to support with housing, finances, relationships, employment and other practical support.
The service will be delivered by Everyturn, a mental health charity and leading provider of crisis services including crisis line, houses and community based Safe Havens.
Adam Crampsie, Chief Executive at Everyturn said: “We know that, for many people, talking about mental health isn’t easy and it can be a real barrier to people accessing support. Text-based crisis support services can make it easier for people to reach out in a way that feels safe and manageable. Our team will be there to provide calm, compassionate support where and when people need it most.
“We’re proud to be working in partnership with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. This service will build on our experience of delivering high-quality crisis care that supports people to stay safe, reduces pressure on NHS and system partners, and connects people with ongoing help in their community. Our focus is simple: to be there, to listen, and to help people through some of the most difficult moments in their lives so that no one struggles alone.”
In addition to this, a traditional text service will be launching later this year to ensure accessibility for everyone in south London requiring support.
