South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust’s (SWLSTG’s) Chief Operating Officer, Jen Allan, has announced her decision to move on from her role after four years.

This month we celebrated Learning Disability Week (17-23 June) with staff from our learning disability services who took the time to tell us about their roles and the important work they do, as well as the things they do to support their patients to feel seen, heard and valued, which is the theme for this year's awareness week. 

The Sutton Individual Placement Support (IPS) service has been awarded the ‘Good’ Quality Kite Mark by IPS Grow for their efforts helping people find paid employment as part of their recovery.

It is that time of the year – the South West London and St George’s Summer Street Party is back. This year the party will celebrate 30 years of the Trust, as well as the amazing work of our staff and communities through the year. The parties also provide the opportunity to bring together our patients, their carers, and our local communities.

Happy National Volunteers’ Week to all staff, service users and their carers’ families and friends who volunteer in one capacity or another, in the Trust or outside it. It is wonderful to give time, skills and energy to support causes dear to us, and we salute every one of you.

The inaugural South West London Mental Health Conference took place on Monday 20 May with a series of engaging workshops and insightful discussions on the future of local mental health services.

This Mental Health Awareness Week (13-19 May), we are inviting our communities to find a moment for movement in Springfield Park with the help of our new park map and guide.  

You may have seen a report on Channel 4 News recently which highlighted the risks associated with drinking alcohol while taking clozapine. The combination of both drugs can cause central nervous system depression which is when the brain and nervous system slows down. If it slows down too much, it can be life-threatening.

As part of our Better Environments programme, parking arrangements are changing over the coming months to accommodate works at Tolworth Hospital. 

Congratulation to Elisha Parkinson, who has been awarded Nursing Associate Learner of the Year in the prestigious Student Nursing Times Awards.

Lucy Matthews, who worked as a Nursing Associate at the Trust, has been named as winner of the Trust’s Exceptional People Award for March 2024.

Employment Specialist Christopher Walsh has been named the Exceptional People Award winner for February 2024.
