We are delighted to introduce Justine Trippier, Consultant Nurse for Mental Health, Learning Disability & Autism (MHLDA), who has recently taken up the role of Ward Consultant and Trainee Multi-Professional Approved Clinician (MPAC) on Rose Ward.
Justine also leads our Trust’s work on suicide prevention, bringing compassion, expertise, and many years of experience to this vital area.
With over 30 years in nursing, including 20 as a consultant, Justine has supported people across many different services, from inpatient wards and community care to psychiatric liaison and specialist support for those facing both mental health and substance use challenges. Earlier in her career, she also worked in HIV and AIDS care, including end-of-life support. These experiences have shaped her strong and lasting commitment to holistic, person-centred care.
Throughout her career, Justine has been a passionate advocate for involving people in decisions about their care. She has championed approaches such as motivational interviewing and shared decision-making, making sure that people’s voices, choices, and aspirations are always at the heart of the support they receive.
Speaking about her new role, Justine said:
“Rose Ward is a place where people come at some of the most critical moments in their lives. My aim is to help shape an environment of safety, dignity, and recovery. For me, being an Approved Clinician is not just about legal responsibility, it’s about advocacy, leadership, and holding hope when people may be struggling to see it for themselves.”
Looking ahead, Justine is excited to continue working alongside the ward team, patients, and families:
"What excites me about this role is the opportunity to bring together my clinical expertise, leadership experience, and personal perspective as a neurodivergent practitioner, being both autistic and ADHD, to make a difference for individuals with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and autism (MHLDA)."
“It’s a privilege to step into this role, and I look forward to contributing to the culture of collaboration and compassion that makes Rose Ward such a special place.”
