Springfield Village reveals the date of its Christmas tree-lighting celebration
It wouldn’t be Christmas without an official tree-lighting countdown and Springfield Village is delighted to announce that its annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony will take place on 12th December 2024 from 5pm.
For the Trust’s Charity, this event marks the start of the festive season and is an occasion for people to officially get their Christmas jumpers out, come along and experience some yuletide enchantment with carol singing, hot drinks and mince pies.
The beautifully lit Christmas tree will take pride of place in Chapel Square, Springfield Village in South West London. Springfield Village is a new stigma-breaking landscape centred around modern NHS mental health facilities, more than 800 new homes, a new public square, shops and a 32-acre public park. This eagerly awaited event will give the Trust’s staff, patients and members of the community a chance to gather around the tree for a fun-filled evening of festive joy.
Celebrating our birthday
The event will also be a chance to celebrate the Trust's 30th birthday. Our Trust was first established on 12 December 1994 as The Pathfinder National Health Service NHS Trust, before changing to its current name in 1999.
This year we have been celebrating the changing face of our organisation by sharing the stories of the people who know it best, our staff. As part of this event we will come together to reflect on our history and heritage, as well as our future.
Support our winter appeal
The Charity continues to spread the festive cheer by joining hands with mental health charity MoMark to deliver its first Winter Appeal. The ‘We Care Christmas Gift Campaign’ will run from 1st November to 25th December and all funds raised at the Christmas tree-lighting ceremony will be donated to this worthy cause.
As Christmas can be a trying time for patients who need to be in hospital over the festive season, the Charity is appealing to those who are able to donate, to ensure that every patient gets to open a ‘We Care Christmas Gift’ on Christmas Day. A donation of just £5 will fund an entire gift bag for a patient
The 12th of December is a particularly special date as the South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust celebrates its 30th birthday, which means that the local community will get to enjoy the Charity’s most magical celebration of the year on the Trust’s birthday.
Ian Garlington, Better Communities Director comments:
“For those who are looking to support a good cause this Christmas and for a chance to attend a dazzling Christmas lights switch-on event, we are extending a warm invitation to our local community to join us at this festive fundraising event. All funds raised will be donated to our Winter Appeal, which will help us bring some much-needed joy and comfort to our patients on Christmas Day.”
