About our care

Access Child and Youth Mental Health Service screens referrals for young people aged 5-18 years, who present with difficulties related to their emotional wellbeing/mental health.

The team also screens referrals querying neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Calls are offered to young people/carers to understand their concerns, assess risk and offer advice and support.

Longer mental health screening assessments with young people/families can be arranged as needed. These are usually 90 minute appointments held either in person or via video call or phone.

Following triage calls/assessments, young people and their families will be signposted to other services for further interventions and support if needed. The team also includes a family consultancy service, which is a local authority service that offers brief interventions for families.

Who is this service for?

Young people aged 5-18 years, who present with difficulties related to their emotional wellbeing/mental health.

The family consultancy team accepts referrals for young people who present with low level/specific difficulties and low risk, for example children presenting with anger, tantrums, sleep difficulties, adjustment following parental separation or relocation. Parents/carers are committed to addressing the issues using a systemic approach to seek solutions and improve family relationships and wellbeing.
