New access routes open at Tolworth Hospital

Map showing Tolworth access routes opening on 3 March 2025

Works have been ongoing at Tolworth Hospital in Kingston as we prepare for its £110m redevelopment to commence later this month.

As part of the final stage of this 'Early Works' programme, new routes are being installed in some areas of the site to improve access for staff, patients, carers and visitors.

From the afternoon of Monday 3 March 2025, this will include new main entrances and exits for vehicles and pedestrians, all of which will be clearly signposted.

The improvements include:

  • Closure of the current main entrance and exit  for maintenance and repair works — this will subsequently only be used for deliveries and for access to Woodroffe House.

  • Reopening of the old main exit as a new two-way entrance and exit  to the site. This will now serve as the main vehicular access for staff, patients and visitor ongoing (not for pedestrian access).

  • A new dedicated pedestrian access on Red Lion Road. This will be the main entrance for staff, patients and visitors accessing the site on foot. The pathway is located to the left of Woodroffe House as you face the site from Red Lion Road.

  • One further pedestrian access will open from Friday 7 March (marked in orange on the map above) providing a more direct path through to Acacia Building. All other pedestrian routes are marked in blue.

These routes have been designed to support improved accessibility for all following changes in our site layout over the past 12 months.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make these improvements.
