Join us as a mental health mediator
We are looking for compassionate and committed individuals who are keen to make a difference and improve the experience of our service users and staff through mediation.
As a mental health mediator, you will support service users and staff at Springfield Hospital by providing mediation during decisions about care and treatment provided under the Mental Health Act, including restrictive practices.
You will help our service users to understand their options and advocate for their choices while promoting shared decision-making and the least restrictive interventions.
The new role is part of the Ethnicity and Mental Health Improvement Project (EMHIP) which aims to reduce ethnic inequalities in mental health services and improve access, experience and outcomes.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Mediate in conflicts or disagreements between service users and staff
- Promote shared decision-making and alternatives to restrictive interventions
- Support patients in seeking the least restrictive options
- Ensure patient empowerment and respect

Who can be a mediator?
- Anyone aged 18 or over
- Willing and capable of taking on this supportive role
